War Child is an album by British rock band Jethro Tull released in 1974. The album was recorded in various London studios and produced by Ian Anderson and Terry Ellis. War Child was the band's eighth studio album and was released as a double album. The album was a commercial and critical success, reaching number one in the UK and number twelve in the US. The album was certified platinum by the RIAA. The first half of the album consists of rock songs, while the second half consists of acoustic songs. The album's title track, "War Child", is a protest song about the Vietnam War. The song was inspired by the death of Anderson's friend. "Bungle in the Jungle" is a rock song about a jungle animal being hunted by humans. "Skating Away (On the Thin Ice of the New Day)" is a song about a man running away from the world. "The Third Hoorah" is a song about a soldier who is about to die in battle. "Two Fingers" is a song about a man who is in love with a woman who is married to someone else.
