In Extremo (Latin for "at the end" or "in the extreme") is a German folk metal band originally from Berlin. The style combines metal with traditional medieval songs, combining the sound of common rock/metal instruments with historical instruments (e.g. bagpipes, harp, ninera). Various versions of well-known medieval ballads form the main part of their repertoire, but over time the band has also been writing their own material.
