The new collection captures nearly four hours of highlights recorded last year at the legendary guitarist's renowned benefit music festival. Eric Clapton, one of the world's foremost blues and rock guitarists, has once again assembled an all-star team of six-string heroes for his fifth annual Crossroads Guitar Festival 2019. The two-day concert event, held at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas, raised funds for the Crossroads Center in Antigua, a treatment facility for alcohol and drug addicts that Clapton founded in 1998. After a six-year hiatus, the festival returned with renewed energy and stellar performances, including James Bay, Jeff Beck, Doyle Bramhall II, Gary Clark Jr, Robert Cray, Sheryl Crow, Andy Fairweather Low, Peter Frampton, Vince Gill, Buddy Guy, Sonny Landreth, Lianne La Havas, Los Lobos, John Mayer, Keb' Mo', Bonnie Raitt, Robert Randolph, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Jimmie Vaughan and more. Eric Clapton's Crossroads Guitar Festival 2019 is released in several configurations: 3CD, 6LP, 2DVD and Blu-ray. During the concert, Clapton shared the stage with other musicians and played some of his best-known songs, including "Layla" with John Mayer and acoustic versions of "Wonderful Tonight" and "Lay Down Sally" with Andy Fairweather Low. Clapton also paid tribute to his late friend George Harrison and performed "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" with Peter Frampton. Crossroads featured an impressive mix of artists, including legends like Bonnie Raitt, James Burton, Robert Cray and Jeff Beck (whose excellent cover of The Beach Boys' "Caroline, No" was a highlight of the festival), contemporary stars like Gary Clark Jr, Robert Randolph and Sheryl Crow, and emerging talent like The Marcus King Band, Tom Misch and Lianne La Havas. As expected, the live collaborations on stage were among the most engaging moments. These included a cover version of "I Wanna Be Your Dog" by The Stooges performed by Doyle Bramhall II, Susan Tedeschi, Derek Trucks, Jim Keltner and actor Bill Murray (festival emcee); Buddy Guy and Johnny Lang, who performed Guy's classic "Cognac"; and a version of Merle Haggard's hit "Tonight The Bottle Let Me Down" performed by Vince Gill, Albert Lee, Bradley Walker and master of goodness Jerry Douglas. For the encore, Clapton returned to the stage to lead the ensemble in Prince's "Purple Rain" and Joe Cocker's "High Time We Went."
