David Gilmour waited nine years for his solo album "Rattle That Lock". But there was a really good reason for that: the singer was busy recording "The Endless River", which his band Pink Floyd released in 2014, so he borrowed some of the guest musicians directly for his own album. He was supported in recording "Rattle That Lock" by his former bandmate Nick Mason, bassist Guy Pratt and his longtime friend and co-producer Phil Manzanera. Rock legends Jools Holland, David Crosby and Graham Nash also contributed to Gilmour's solo album, which was recorded in his Brighton studio and houseboat. Already on 17 July 2015, the first single from the album of the same name, "Rattle That Lock", was released, offering an idea of Gilmour's current sound and quality. If the song's recurring leitmotif sounds familiar, you've probably waited in a French train station before. In fact, the four notes are actually the announcement signal of the state railway company SNCF. Gilmour liked it so much during his stay in Aix en Provence that he recorded it on his mobile phone. Together with his band, singers Mica Paris, Louise Marshall and the "Liberty Choir", he wrote the title song of his album based on it - a catchy pop song with rock and blues elements. Aside from the theme song, Gilmour's strong but soulful voice and various guitar solos in the middle of the song are particularly striking.
