If the term "legend" refers to a musician, it refers to a Jamaican singer, guitarist and songwriter who sadly died too soon in 1981. To this day, he is still the best known representative of reggae and an important identifying figure for many people in the third world. Marley's work was characterised by his Rastafarian religion. Many of his songs therefore have spiritual content that refers to Rastafarianism. This is often intertwined with socially critical and political ideas. In addition, Bob Marley also wrote vulgar love songs. Marley's career began in the early 1960s. Already in the middle of the decade he had his first successes with the opening band The Wailers. They brought him modest prosperity. By the early 1970s, Marley and the Wailers had become internationally famous. In 1974, Bob Marley, Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer split up over a dispute. All three embarked on solo careers - with varying degrees of success.
